“LA PIEL COMO ESCUDO ” SERIES STATEMENT

How exposed are we when we undress? Doesn't the exposure of the body generate the most carnal distraction of fear? not generate the most carnal distraction of fear? The mind is distracted, the fears come out, the body speaks, the skin is manifested. Layers and layers of skin envelop us, with the same thickness that oil paint leaves on the canvas. Under the shield, the silences. Under the skin, the fears. The paintings seek to show through thick brushstrokes the impulsiveness of the interior, the imperfection of the real and the spontaneous. The relationship of the inner world of the artist, with the reflection of the other. The background leaves the protagonism to prioritize the corporal expression, of a body or of many. In a movement or in stillness. It ceases to be the body, to be a feeling made pictorial catharsis. It is the desire for the right caress, the fear of injury, the need for contact. The skin bristles, hurts, sprouts, breaks, stretches, regenerates, heals. On it the mark of the years is exposed. Beneath it the subtle universe of time. What is the limit of the skin? When does the artist stop being the one who paints and is painted? Which of all the women I inhabit do I show? What is the skin if it is not the greatest shield I have?
